Housing Options owns six apartment buildings and leases approximately 20 additional apartments throughout the city of Evanston. The agency owns or leases property in every ward in Evanston and fully furnishes and equips all of its apartments with furniture, appliances, linens and dishes. Most residents live in two- or three-bedroom apartments, but each has his or her own bedroom. To help ensure that our housing is affordable to residents, rent is paid on a sliding scale. Housing Options subsidizes rents so that residents are able to concentrate on their recovery. As many of our residents have been homeless at some point in their lives, providing a safe and comfortable home is essential to the recovery process. The agency prides itself on the way in which it maintains its buildings. The agency’s buildings blend into their neighborhoods and are exceptionally well maintained. Between $75,000 - $100,000 is spent annually on renovations, improvements, repairs, and maintenance of its buildings.
